Edna A. Reese, 88, of Amsterdam, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2016 at the River Ridge Living Center. Born on January 25, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Sally Hanna Van Kleeck. A lifelong resident of the area, Edna was a 1945 graduate of the Wilbur H. Lynch High School. After high school Edna went on to attend Midred Elley Business School. Edna worked as a legal secretary for Attorney Charles Hardies. She was a parishioner of St. Ann’s Episcopal Church, Amsterdam. On December 13, 1947 Edna married her loving husband, Burdette “Burt” L. Reese; it was a union that lasted 60 years until his passing in 2006. Together, Burdette and Edna worked at their Clizbe Avenue Market. She loved gardening, and was a member of the Sacandoga Boat Club. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend; she will be sadly missed. Survivors include her son, Richard C. Reese (Rose James) of Northville and Robert W. Reese (Rev. Kathy) of Broadalbin; grandchildren, Pamela J. Reese Finch, Marcia A. Matis, Robert R. Reese, Christopher S. Vick, Christopher M. Reese and Chad M. Vick; 16 great-grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Several cousins also survive. A memorial service for Edna will take place on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam at 2:00pm with her daughter-in-law, Rev. Kathy Reese Presiding. A calling hour that family and friends are invited to attend with take place from 1:00 pm until the time of service at the funeral home.
