Raymond Partyka

Raymond S. Partyka, 84, of Catherine Street, Amsterdam, NY; passed away Thursday evening November 7, 2013 at Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility in Amsterdam.

Born in Amsterdam, NY; on December 29, 1928, he was the son of the late Albert and Mary Anna Purybzlowicz Partyka.

Ray received his education in the Amsterdam School system and was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch Senior High School.

Ray along with his brother -in-law, William Wojcicki, prominent businessmen, were the co proprietors of the former Partyka’s Market on Crane Street in Amsterdam.

Ray was a parishioner and communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Amsterdam.

He was a member of the Elks Lodge 101, Bigelow Weavers Club and the Amsterdam Municipal Golf Course all in Amsterdam.

Ray will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was known for his great sense of humor and wonderful personality. He loved spending time with his family, deep sea fishing with his grandchildren, the outdoors, fishing and golfing with his many friends.

The family would like to thank the entire staff at Wilkinson for their compassionate care during Ray’s stay at the facility.

Ray is survived by his wife, Dolores Walsh Partyka to whom he was married on June 18, 1950, one daughter, Debra Tarmey (Bob) of Delanson, NY; three sons, Edward Partyka of Groton, MA; James Partyka (Barbara) of Hagaman and David Partyka (Diana) of Lexington, MA; ten grandchildren, Amy, Shelly and John Tarmey, Michael, Kristi, Linda, Elizabeth Quirbach, Joseph, Samuel and Katherine Partyka, three nephews, William Wojcicki (Sharon), Paul Wojcicki and Robert Wojcicki (Patricia), grand nieces and cousins also survive.

Ray was also predeceased by two brothers, Theodore and Edward, sisters, Jane Partyka, Genevieve Wojcicki, Josephine Partyka and his brother-in-law, William Wojcicki.

Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated on Wednesday morning November 13, 2013 at 11:00 at St. Mary’s Church 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam.

Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fort Johnson, NY.

There are no calling hours.

Memorial gifts in Ray’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to a charity of one’s choice.
