Patricia Ann Sobkowicz, 74, of Maple Avenue, Hagaman, NY; passed away Sunday afternoon November 10, 2013 at St. Mary’s Healthcare in Amsterdam, NY, with her loving family by her side.
Born in Amsterdam, NY; on January 27, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Mildred Johnson Louer.
Patty received her education in the Amsterdam school system and was a 1956 graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch Senior High School.
Patty was employed as a clerical worker for many years at Amsterdam Printing & Litho Company and also at Fulmont News, both in Amsterdam.
She was a former member and treasurer of the John J. Wyszomirski American Legion Post 701 in Amsterdam.
Patty loved working with Arts and Crafts; she loved nature and enjoyed all kinds of wildlife and animals. She also enjoyed snowshoeing, cross country skiing and golf.
Her husband, Robert L. Sobkowicz to whom she was married on May 5, 1957 survives Patty at home. She is also survived by one daughter, Susan Van Alstine (Ken) of Broadalbin, NY; three sons, Robert T. Sobkowicz (Fran) of Johnstown, NY; William Sobkowicz (Kristy) of Amsterdam, NY, and Wayne Sobkowicz (Chris) of Rotterdam, NY; eight grandchildren, Braden and Janse Van Alstine, Ele, Libby and Rachel Sobkowicz, Josh Stewart, (Shannon), George and Jamie Haridimos, two great grandchildren, Rylee Van Alstine and Liam Stewart, one brother, Richard Louer (Joyce) of Amsterdam and a nephew, Brian Louer (Suzanna) also of Amsterdam.
Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Interment will take place at Fairview Cemetery in Amsterdam.
