Marie B. Janos, 96, of Hollywood Road, Amsterdam, formerly of Milwaukee, WI and Appleton, WI passed away peacefully in her home on September 14, 2012. She was born to Peter Shumacher and Mary Lunowa in Sharon, WI on October 8, 1915. She graduated from high school and secretarial schools in Wisconsin. She was united in marriage to George Janos in Medford, Oregon on May 26, 1943.
Marie was predeceased by her husband, George Janos and her brother, Peter Shumacher and his wife, Delores.
She was an avid football fan and loved her Green Bay Packers. Before starting a family and becoming a homemaker, she worked for Harley Davidson as a secretary and for the federal government in Medford, Oregon during World War II. She loved to travel and toured Alaska, Germany, Italy and in recent years, the Atlantic coast.
She is survived by a daughter, Linda King (Thomas) of Amsterdam, NY and two sons, Rick Janos (Irene) of Appleton, WI and Gerald Janos (Sylvia) of Tucson, AZ. She adored her seven grandchildren: Jennifer Guerin (Rusty) of Chazy Lake, Christopher Schramm (Kerri) of Massapequa Park, Mary Dyson (Robert) of Watertown, NY and Thomas King (Bethany) , Abigail Jackson (Adam), Allison and Amy King all of Amsterdam. In 2007, she moved to Amsterdam, New York to be closer to them. She is also survived by great-grandchildren: Alexander, Floyd and Angel Guerin, Liam and Raymond Schramm and Jacob King. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
There are no calling hours. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Stephen’s Church in Hagaman, NY on Wednesday September 19, 2012 at 10:30. Entombment will be at the Holy Cross Mausoleum in Milwaukee, WI. Donations in her name may be made to the Hagaman Volunteer Fire Department, 126 S Pawling St. Hagaman, NY 12086.
