Caroline M. D’Arcangelis, 93, of Wallace Street, Scotia, NY, former resident of Cross Street, Fort Plain, NY, passed away peacefully at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady on Monday, January 4, 2016. Born May 2, 1922 in Watertown, New York, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Irene King Trangucci. She graduated from Fort Plain High School and spent a great deal of her life living in the yellow house at the center of Cross Street. She was a wife and mother, raising eight children and staying involved with her grandchildren. Many family members and friends looked to her for advice. Caroline touched many lives and everyone she met fell in love with her. More importantly, she taught everyone that life is not to be taken too seriously, but to be lived with a smile on your face, a song in your heart, and a glass of wine in your hand. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church in Fort Plain and was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas’ Court Catherine Esther No. 1264. Caroline at one time served as an EMT for the Fort Plain Volunteer Ambulance Corps. She enjoyed reading, ceramics, crocheting and playing Pitch. On December 14, 1941 she married Chancy D’Arcangelis who passed away November 9, 1974. Predeceased by her son Howard (Anne) D’Arcangelis, Coxsackie, NY. Survivors include her children, Jeanette Stapley (John) of Schroon Lake, NY, Edward D’Arcangelis (Ping Lee) of Stanford, CT, Annette D’Arcangelis (Faruk Soydan) Longboat Key, FL, Raymond D’Arcangelis (Linda) of Schenectady, Mary Anne D’Arcangelis (Gary Elton) of Albuquerque, NM, Chancy D’Arcangelis (Deborah) of Colonie, NY and Carol Lynne D’Arcangelis (Dennis Black) of St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada; 15 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 10 o’clock at Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church, 115 Reid Street, Ft. Plain with the Rev. Dennis Murphy as celebrant. Burial will take place in spring at the Fort Plain Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday from 4 to 7 pm at the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY.
