David F. Joralemon, 64, of Dorn Road, Town of Florida, passed away December 9, 2013 at home with his wife by his side. He had been ill for many years with complications from diabetes.
Born in Amsterdam, NY; on December 17, 1948, he was the son of the late Fred Joralemon, and Veronica Pranys Joralemon who survives.
Dave was a lifelong resident of the Town of Florida. He grew up on a dairy farm and started working at a young age. After selling the farm, Dave started his own lawn care company, which he operated until his illness forced him to retire. Dave was a hard worker with a heart of gold; he was a quiet unassuming man, who always rooted for the underdog. He called himself a “regular blue collared guy”, but he was much more than that to those who knew and loved him. If the measure of a man is not where he stands in a moment of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at a time of challenge and controversy. He was truly a great man and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Dave is survived by his wife, Deborah A. Downing Joralemon, to whom he was married December 12, 1997, his mother, Veronica of Amsterdam, a son, Michael Joralemon (Lia) and three grandsons, Aidan, Isaac and Mikey.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning December 13, 2013 at 9:00 at the Riley Mortuary, Inc. 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY.
Interment will take place in the spring at Chuctanunda Cemetery in Minaville, NY.
Calling hours are Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Riley Mortuary.
Memorial gifts in Dave’s name may be made to Montgomery County SPCA, where he and his wife adopted many of their furry friends, P.O. Box 484 Amsterdam, NY, 12010.
